Río de la Compañía Tunnel
This tunnel is an important outlet channel for rainwater and sewage from urban developments in the Chalco Valley, eliminating the risk of a failure of the Río Compañía Canal, as regional sinkage in the area had caused cracks in the structure.
We built six float valves at an average depth of 27 meters; we also dug a tunnel 6,770 meters in length with en Earth-Pressure-Balance (EPB) type shield with German technology. Some 4,560 precast segmented concrete rings were also made for the primary tunnel support and placement of 30m-thick reinforced concrete lining.
